Supporting Coaches. Developing Players. Building a Pathway.
At LNYSA, we believe in a true player development pathway—one that ensures every player has the opportunity to play, grow, and perform at their best. That pathway begins with supporting our recreational coaches, because confident, well-supported coaches create the best experience for players and families alike.
For more than a decade, LNYSA has delivered soccer programs that build skills, confidence, teamwork, self-esteem, and leadership. As Laguna Niguel’s leading youth soccer league, we proudly serve players across three levels of the game:
Together, these programs form a player-centric development pathway, allowing players to participate at the level that best matches their ability, goals, and stage of development.
Why Coach Support Matters
We believe that supporting the coach is critical to helping players thrive and families enjoy the game season after season. When coaches feel prepared, appreciated, and connected, everyone benefits—especially the players.
Below are some of the key ways LNYSA supports our coaches:
How LNYSA Supports Our Coaches
⚽ Head Coaches Play for Free
Being a recreational coach requires time, energy, and commitment. As a thank-you, head coaches receive free registration for their player on the team—our way of recognizing the vital role coaches play for players, parents, and the LNYSA community.
📘 Coach Training & Education
LNYSA supports the US Soccer Grassroots Coaching Pathway for the 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 formats. These courses combine short online modules with on-field training and are:
This a-la-carte approach empowers coaches with education tailored to their specific age group and needs.
📗 Coaching Manuals & Mentorship
New coaches are never on their own. LNYSA provides:
This support helps coaches feel confident from their very first session.
🎯 Midweek Player Clinics
LNYSA offers 6-week, age-based midweek player clinics during the Spring and Fall seasons, led by professional coaches. These optional one-hour sessions benefit both players and coaches, offering:
⚽ Coach Soccer Games
Some coaches still want to play the game—and we support that too. LNYSA hosts small-sided pickup games for coaches on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These games:
We’ve been running these games for over 15 years, with players ranging from 25 to 70 years old.
📣 Ongoing Communication & Support
Listening to coaches and families is essential to the continued growth of LNYSA. Each age group is supported by Division Directors and a dedicated team of Board volunteers who provide:
This ensures our programs evolve to meet the needs of the community we serve.
