2025 Spring Rec Soccer

Welcome to LNYSA SPRING Soccer. Available Programs include the following:

Mini-Kickers – LNYSA Mini-Kickers is for players, ages 3 to 4. This introductory program is focused on friendships and fun. Games are played on Saturdays; there are no mid-week practices. It’s where the young ones start! Parents may expect to be notified during February regarding uniform information.

Recreational – LNYSA Recreational soccer is for ages 5 through 19. Designed to develop skills, build confidence, teamwork, self-esteem, and leadership. Games are played in Laguna Niguel, generally. Practices begin in mid February 2025. Uniforms are distributed prior to the first game in Late February 2025. Additional midweek Skills Clinics are run by Professional trainers to help the players pick up new skills during the Season. These Clinics are usually offered for a 6 week period, once a week per Division.

Select Soccer – LNYSA Select Soccer is for players, ages 8 through 16, with advanced skills. Tryouts are completed at the beginning of each year and are required to participate in this advanced Recreational level program. Select teams travel in the area to play other Advanced level teams during the Spring and Spring seasons. Two team practices are held each week. We realize that players often play other sports during the Spring Season and as a result the coaches are more flexible during this time to support multi-sport athletes.

Volunteering:We ask all families to commit to a volunteer activity (see the list during registration & see the volunteer descriptions below) or make a donation in lieu of volunteering. During registration please tell us if your family intends to volunteer for one of the roles or make a $150 donation per family (added to the cart at the end of registration for those not signing up to volunteer) *Note If you have another player in another program just select the same volunteer role as you did in the other program.

Playing UP – Parents you should ONLY select "yes " to this question during registration if you want your player to be moved UP a year to play with the next aged Division ie if your players birth year is 2016 (U7) but you believe they are advanced enough to play with the older players in 2015 (U8) and its developmental appropriate to move them UP a year, then select "yes" to the Play UP question otherwise please do not select Yes. Most of the time parents DO NOT make a play-UP request as the player is usually better playing with his age group during the Season.

Pricing: Get the BEST price of the Year with our Early Bird Discount of $50 off the regular price. Early Bird pricing is effective through 11/13/24. Our Price Guarantee offers a full refund on Seasonal registration up until Sunday January 25, 2023.

$12 Insurance fee charged per payer at checkout and is not refundable.

A description of Volunteer Opportunities – see the detailed list below

Coaching Staff - Each team needs at least 1 coach & preferably a coach and assistant coach that mentor & instruct the team during the Season. Coaches plan and supervise training sessions to develop general fitness and specific soccer skills for the players in their teams. Coaches are required to take some training. (see the training summary here) . For the younger ages U5, U6, U7, U8 coaches follow our training to teach age specific skills. As the players get older the coaches will also tech field awareness, specific positions on the field and game tactics.  If you are interested in learning more about being a coach please email us here.

Team Manager - Having a team manager assigned each Season is very helpful for the Coaching staff so they can focus on training the team and have the support of the team manager with team communications, sending out schedules, notifying parents of any schedule changes , helping to facilitate scrimmages with other teams, organizing the team snack at games, ordering a team banner, helping to facilitate the end of season party.

School Liaison - As a School Liaison we ask you to talk about your experiences with the LNYSA programs with parents at the schools your kids attend. Help to promote the programs and get feedback from parents and schools on the LNYSA youth programs.

Field Helpers - For those volunteers that can donate just 1-2 hours a Season we ask our field helpers to help with field setup, lining a grass field, putting up Banners at a field, collecting equipment and placing it back in a locker. This role is very easy and does not take much time at all during the Season.

Division Directors - Each Season we recruit Division Directors who are the age group coordinators for each Division ie The GU10 (2012-2013) Division may have 6-8 teams in the Fall. The Division Director helps to support the Coaches for that Division, with items like place assignments, updates to rules for the Division and generally quarter-backing the plays for the Division during the Season. If you are interested in learning more about this volunteer role please email us here

Volunteering:We ask all families to commit to a volunteer activity (see the list during registration) or make a donation in lieu of volunteering. During registration please tell us if your family intends to volunteer for one of the roles or make a $150 donation per family (added to the cart at the end of registration for those not signing up to volunteer) *Note If you have another player in another program just select the same volunteer role as you did in the other program. Thank you.

Age Matrix Template

LNYSA Birth Year and Season Matrix

When determining the age group for a season, the year the season ends should be used for determining the birth year. Also note that the format "U" followed by age really means that age and younger. For example, U8 should be read as 8 and younger.

Note:

The Recreational program starts at U5 (mini-kickers) through U19.
Select Soccer teams start from U9 through U16.
Our Club program starts at U8 through U19.
