Mini Kickers Spring 2017 FAQ’s

Everything About Spring 2017 Mini-Kickers

What is Mini-Kickers?
This is a Saturday only program – no mid-week practices. Each week boys and girls will spend one hour in fun soccer activities taught by certified coaches. There are no set teams, so kids can play side-by-side with their friends. Each session will end with a real soccer match on a small field. There are no referees, so parents will stay to cheer on their player.

What are the Age requirements?
A Mini-Kicker is any boy or girl over 3 years of age.  We have many players just over 3 years old up to 5 years of age. Our younger players have a great time, but kids sometimes collide. Parents need to be aware that other kids sharing the field may be five and should make the decision if they think their child is ready to start playing soccer. See our age group calculator to see what program your child should play in this Season. Parents, a quick note,  the Registration platform works on a State defined Seasonal Age group basis so it calculates your child’s age as of July 31st.  If your player was not 3 years old by July 31st,  2016 but wishes to play Spring Soccer and will be 3 years old by March 1st,  2017 please email us to help get your player registered.

Dates / Times / Fields
One session, on Saturdays, will run for ~1hr each week starting at 8:30 am at Chapparosa Park field (25193 Chapparosa Park Road, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677) . The first week Saturday session on March 4th will commence at 8:15am.  The season will consist of 8 sessions, starting on Saturday March 4th to May 6th (with 1 week off during spring break).  Please arrive at the field 5-10 minutes early so you can find parking and be ready for the start of the session.

Parking During the Season
Parking at Chapparosa Park, is located next to field. There are plenty of parking spaces. Please allow 5-10 minutes to park and walk onto the field & join any of the groups (you will see a number of micro-fields setup)..

What happens if it rains?
If we experience heavy rain on a Friday or Saturday we will update the field status to advise if the Saturday session is proceeding or not as this is what dictates if we play or do not play.   To review field conditions please visit our fields link or call the city mud line for field status.

How much does it cost?
The Spring Mini-Kickers season cost is $70.

What about player uniforms?
Each player will receive a full uniform including jersey, shorts and socks. You MUST provide Shin Guards and a Size 3 Ball for your player (we will also provide soccer balls for each group to use).

Is there a Residency requirement?
While most of our players live in Laguna Niguel, many live in Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, San Clemente or Mission Viejo. Laguna Niguel Youth Soccer Association welcomes kids from every city.

How do I Sign Up?
Register online registration using credit or debit card, click on the Spring 2017 Registration link on our homepage. If your player is 3 years old by March 1st, 2017 they are eligible to play in the Spring program.  If you have any registration problems email us we are here to help.

What is the deadline to Sign Up?
Most players will sign up online by January 27. Since there are no set teams for Mini-Kickers, we will continue to accept online registrations until the first week of our Saturday sessions, or until uniforms run out. If you sign up after January 26, however, you may have to wait a few weeks into the season before you receive your uniform.

Do you need volunteers?
YES! We need dozens of Coach-Helper volunteers. This is a simple, well organized program. We’ll show you exactly what to do and give you a step-by-step weekly schedule.  You don’t need any soccer experience to be a Coach-Helper. To help you must attend one of our Coach-Helper meetings to be scheduled in late February. Please email mini-kickers@lnysa.org with the subject line Coach-Helper to let me know you are interested.

What’s next – Parents Meeting – Wednesday March 1st, 2017 (6:30 pm-7:30 pm)
The meeting is planned at Sea Country Center (24602 Aliso Creek Road) in Laguna Niguel. The parent’s meeting will give you the opportunity to learn more about the mini-kickers program and collect your player’s uniform. We will also support registration for Late-Add players.  There maybe a delay (7-9 days) in getting a uniform  for Late-Add Players.

Here’s an example, from the Fall notice, of what to expect in the parent parent meeting.

Please feel free to email me with any questions about our program, at: mini-kickers@lnysa.org.
