LNYSA Inferno – JUSA Friendship Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to LNYSA Signature Team Inferno! Champions of the Junior United Soccer Association (JUSA) Friendship Tournament!

With just four weeks to train his BU12 Signature Team of 14 players, Coach Daniel Medina was proud to represent LNYSA at the annual JUSA Friendship Tournament held August 9 and 10 on the fields in Placentia, Yorba Linda, and Anaheim.

Team Inferno won their first game Saturday in dominant fashion against JUSA Outlaws, 5 to 1. Later that afternoon, they took on another equally talented team, AYSO Ladera Ranch Extra, and continued their goal-scoring efforts in a 4 to 1 victory. On Sunday, although the competition heated up considerably, it wasn’t hot enough to overcome Team Inferno as they won their semi-final game against La Mirada, 2 to 1, and overcame an even tougher match against Outlaws FC OFC, winning 3 to 2. Six of Team Inferno’s 13 players who participated in the Tournament, scored goals.

Coach Medina, who began coaching with LNYSA in 2013, had this to say about the Tournament and his Team’s efforts: “JUSA has quite a lot of teams and most of them are strong. They [Inferno] surpassed my expectations. Each game was harder than the one before… the last game we could see the exhaustion of the kids… the long passes, the hands on their knees and with all that, when the last whistle went off, their faces turned from pain and tiredness to the happiest people on earth!! Their smiles gave me the satisfaction that only a coach can get when things go the right way, I was so happy for all of them. All the parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents supported their family kids from the beginning all the way to the end.”
