Christian Scott Pappas is a 13-year old player on LNYSA's U14 Signature team who was diagnosed with bone cancer this fall. He began 10 long months of intense chemotherapy this September and will be in and out of UCLA Medical Center for most of the year. He will miss this year's soccer season, he is not allowed to go to school and will miss all of his 8th grade year.
Christian is a straight A honors student who loves school. In addition to soccer, he runs a 5:53 mile - a member of AVMS Speed Limit club. He is a friendly, funny, and kind kid and has always had a positive outlook on life. He has an eleven year old sister, Nicole - also an LNYSA player. His mother Juli, a middle school teacher at La Paz Intermediate school, is taking a year off to be with Christian during his treatment. The family will be facing some hardship this year. On Sunday, November 14, there will be a rally at the Rancho Niguel HOA clubhouse to support Christian (download the flyer here) . In December, there will be a fundraiser for the Pappas family in December - a $1 Book Sale - anybody who can donate items, we will be collecting items at the LNYSA Fall Festival on Saturday, November 13 - just look for the Christian Pappas booth. For complete details on the fundraiser, please download this flyer and forward to your friends. If you would like to make a donation to the Pappas family, please visit the Christian Pappas Fund web site and make a donation. Christian and his family have a long, painful road ahead of them and any support is greatly appreciated. |
