Mini-Kickers
Monday, 01 March 2010 09:16

The Mini-Kickers sessions will be held each Saturday starting March 6th at Marina Hills Park. Players may attend either session at 8:30 or 9:45 AM each week. Parents are encouraged to bring water, a snack, and sunscreen for their child. Registration will continue at the field for the first two weeks. If you would like to sign up, please bring a completed registration form and your check for $75.

COACH HELPER meetings will be held Monday March 1st and Wednesday March 3rd from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Patio Room at Crown Valley Community Park (YMCA). Since mini-kicker parents need to stay at the field during their child's participation anyway, why not get the required training to be able to help! Mini-kicker coach-helpers are our fun leaders. Parent volunteers lead players through our fun soccer activities. It's easy, it's fun, and your child will love you for it! Please join us at either meeting and become a coach-helper.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -

What is Mini-Kickers?
This is a Saturday only program - no mid-week practices. Each week boys and girls will spend one hour in fun soccer activities taught by certified coaches. There are no set teams, so kids can play side-by-side with their friends. Each session will end with a real soccer match on a small field. There are no referees, so parents will stay to cheer on their player.

What are the Age Requirements?
A Mini-Kicker is any boy or girl born AFTER 7/31/ 2004. We use the same age matrix in the Spring as we do in the Fall. If you were a Mini-Kicker in the Fall, you will play Mini-Kickers again during the Spring season. There is NO MINIMUM AGE requirement. We have many players just over 3 years old. Our younger players have had a great time, but kids sometimes collide. Parents need to be aware that other kids sharing the field may be five.

Dates / Times / Fields
The season will run for eight weeks beginning March 6th. The exact times and field assignments from the city are usually determined just prior to the start of the season. Our field will be here in Laguna Niguel (last year we were assigned to Juaneno Park). I anticipate we will run two sessions, probably 8:30 and 9:45. You may attend either session any week.

How Much does it Cost?
The Spring 2010 Mini-Kickers season cost $75, and may be paid online with your registration, or by Check or Credit Card at our Parents Meeting.

What about Uniforms?
Each player will receive a full uniform including jersey, shorts and socks. You MUST provide Shin Guards and a Size 3 Ball for your player.

Is there a Residency Requirement?
While most of our players live in Laguna Niguel, many live in Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, San Clemente or Mission Viejo. Laguna Niguel Youth Soccer Association welcomes kids from every city.

How do I Sign Up?
Attend the meeting on Monday February 22, 6:30 PM at the Crown Valley Community Center. At the Parents Meeting we will collect your signed registration form and proof of payment in exchange for your uniform.

What is the Deadline to Sign Up?
Most players will sign up online and complete their registration at our Parents Meeting, however we will continue to accept registrations at the field during the first two weeks of our Saturday sessions.

Do you need Volunteers?
YES! We need dozens of Coach-Helper volunteers. This is a simple, well organized program. We'll show you exactly what to do. To help you must attend one of our Coach-Helper meetings on Monday, March 1st or Wednesday, March 3rd 6:30 - 7:30 PM in the Patio Room at the YMCA (Crown Valley Community Park). Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject line Coach-Helper to let me know you are interested.

What's next - Parents Meeting
Our parent's meeting will give you the opportunity to learn more about the mini-kickers program, to complete your registration, and get your player's uniform. The room will be full, so parent's only please.

What if I can't make the Meeting?
After our scheduled meeting, we will announce an alternate meeting to register and pick up your uniform. Additionally, we will continue to accept registrations at the field for the first two Saturday sessions.

What Parents Are Saying About Mini-Kickers...

This is our first year in mini-kickers and our son is having a blast and learning some basic skills at the same time!  We have found some preschool friends that he meets up with every Saturday morning and they all play together.  Next year when he starts regular soccer, I think he will be better prepared for the game.

Thank you for all of your hard work, energy and time!

Sincerely,
Lucinda

Just wanted to say thanks for setting up this great program and all that you do to maintain it.

I have had and continue to have a wonderful experience with my daughter because of your efforts, a sentiment that is shared by all of the kids I see each week.

Thanks again,
Mike
