What is a Mini-Kickers Coach-Helper?

We ALWAYS need volunteers to help our Mini Kickers.  Are you interested in being a Coach-Helper?  We make it easy and fun to play soccer with your child each week.  We need lots of volunteers to make the season fun for everyone.

  • No soccer experience or knowledge necessary!  If you can kick a ball, you can be a Coach-Helper.
  • We give you a schedule each week with a list of activities and times so all you need to do is follow the list.
  • We give you training so you know just what to do.
  • There are no set teams, so if you can't make it one week, it's OK.  If you have a sick child, have to travel for work, go on vacation or have a scheduling conflict with another child's game, there is no one you need to call.
  • There are at least two Coach-Helpers per field so you always have someone to help you.  Team up with veteran Coach-Helpers that will guide you through the season.
  • It's fun to play with the kids and your child will love having you on the field with them.  And kids of Coach-Helpers get a special patch for their uniform.

If you are interested in learning more about being a Coach-Helper, or would like to volunteer, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with Coach-Helper in the title.

Spring 2012 Mini-Kickers FAQs

What is Mini-Kickers?
This is a Saturday only program - no mid-week practices. Each week boys and girls will spend one hour in fun soccer activities taught by certified coaches. There are no set teams, so kids can play side-by-side with their friends. Each session will end with a real soccer match on a small field. There are no referees, so parents will stay to cheer on their player.

What are the Age Requirements?
A Mini-Kicker is any boy or girl born AFTER 7/31/2006 . There is NO MINIMUM AGE requirement. We have many players just over 3 years old. Our younger players have had a great time, but kids sometimes collide. Parents need to be aware that other kids sharing the field may be five.

Dates / Times / Fields
The season will begin Saturday March 10th. The exact times and field assignments from the city are usually determined just prior to the start of the season. Our field will be here in Laguna Niguel. I anticipate we will run two sessions, probably 8:30 and 10:00. You may attend either session any week.

How Much does it Cost?
The Spring 2012 Mini-Kickers season cost $65.

What about Uniforms?
Each player will receive a full uniform including jersey, shorts and socks.  We will have a fun spring theme this year and each player will be receiving a USA Soccer Team themed uniform. You MUST provide Shin Guards and a Size 3 Ball for your player.

Is there a Residency Requirement?
While most of our players live in Laguna Niguel, many live in Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, San Clemente or Mission Viejo. Laguna Niguel Youth Soccer Association welcomes kids from every city.

How do I Sign Up?
Register online registration using credit or debit card.  If you prefer to pay by check, you can come to the field on the first week of the season.

What is the Deadline to Sign Up?
Most players will sign up online by Feb. 2.  Since there are no set teams for Mini-Kickers, we will continue to accept online registrations until the first week of our Saturday sessions, or until uniforms run out. If you sign up after Feb. 7th, however, you may have to wait a few weeks into the season before you receive your uniform.

Do you need Volunteers?
YES! We need dozens of Coach-Helper volunteers. This is a simple, well organized program. We'll show you exactly what to do and give you a step-by-step weekly schedule. You don’t need any soccer experience to be a Coach-Helper. To help you must attend one of our Coach-Helper meetings to be scheduled in August. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject line Coach-Helper to let me know you are interested.

What's next - Parents Meeting
Watch your email in mid-February for details about our parent's meeting just before the season starts. The parent's meeting will give you the opportunity to learn more about the mini-kickers program and get your player's uniform.

Please feel free to email me with any questions about our program.
