Dear U16 and U19 Parents and Players, In addition to our regular U16 and U19 format, LNYSA is pleased to announce a new Coed Spring Soccer Program specifically designed for our High School players. We realize that between homework, friends, jobs and other sports, our kids this age have tremendous demands on their time. However, we also feel that providing a healthy, social and athletic outlet for them through the great game of soccer is valuable for their personal development. This program will be less demanding of their time than a regular soccer season, while being fun, healthy, balanced, local and safe. If you would like to participate or get more information, please email the the co-ed committee and provide the info below. And, by all means, pass this on to your friends!
The basic format will be: • Coed U16 & Coed U19 (divisions will be divided by age and/or caliber of players) • 7v7 (or 8v8 depending on the number of players) • Maximum 12 players per team • 3 girls per team on the field at all times • Smaller field • All games Saturday afternoons between 2pm and 6pm • All games in Laguna Niguel, no travel • Wednesday night practices at 8pm (optional) • Eight weeks of pool play starting March 6 • Playoffs May 8 and May 15 • Winning teams will receive specially designed LNYSA apparel • Emphasis on fun • Friends will be kept together while maintaining a reasonable balance between teams • Well supervised (all players will be required to abide by a signed code of conduct agreement)

We encourage players to invite their friends to play. In fact, if your player invites a non-LNYSA player to participate and the player joins, your spring fee will be reduced from $75 to $50. The first two scrimmage/practice sessions will be Saturday, February 20th and 27th. Prior to March 6, we will form teams consisting of twelve players per team. We will put emphasis on keeping friends together while maintaining balanced teams to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Players that will be playing on a traditional travel team are welcome to participate in the Coed Program for no additional cost. However, the player must treat the travel team as their first priority in the event of Saturday game conflicts.

New Coaches Game, every Wednesday |
Coaches, LNYSA has had since its inception a Coaches Game that is played once a week. It has become very popular and the coaches that participate have benefitted in many ways including increased knowledge of the game, learning new skills and, of course, lasting friendships through the shared passion for soccer. LNYSA is now sponsoring another program for coaches interested in learning, fitness and friendship. On Wednesdays from 7-9 we will hold a “LNYSA Developmental Game”. This will be for those coaches and volunteers that are new to soccer or returning to the game and wanting to increase their effectiveness. The program will be an opportunity to play in an organized, safe environment. The program will be run primarily as a game, but we will also provide coaches a variety of drills and training which can be applied to the youth programs and your teams. When: Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. Where: Chaparossa Park Dates: The initial program will be for 8 weeks beginning this Wednesday January 6th 2010
Who: Coaches, Asst. Coaches, Refs, active volunteers. The program is open to anyone actively involved in LNYSA so please take this opportunity to learn, increase fitness, build friendships, and ultimately improve your coaching skills. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday. |
